FAQs

How does silk benefit your hair?

No matter what your hair type, silk will leave it in its best condition, even first thing in the morning. Whereas other fabrics may tug, pull or tangle your hair, silk cause 43% less friction than other fabrics whilst keeping essential moisture in. Silk also benefits your scalp, keeping it hydrated and healthy. No more frizziness, knots or static, no matter how often you treat or heat your hair. It even helps your style stay put longer!

Why choose silk pillowcases over other fibres?

Since we spend nearly a third of our life in bed, it really pays to have the best bedding you can buy.  Cotton pillowcases are over-absorbent, meaning they extract vital hydration from your hair and skin while you sleep. Mulberry silk pillowcases help lock moisture in. whilst being hypoallergenic, non-irritant and a dust mite repellent. A simple decision to upgrade your bedding to silk is sure to raise your beauty game. Silk’s soft breathable structure and built-in
natural proteins stimulate and nourish your skin and aids restful sleep.

What is the best way to wash and dry my SilkSleek products?

All our products are washable either by hand or by machine.  To keep your products in their best condition, we recommend gentle hand washing in warm water. Please see our washing and care instructions for further details.

Will my SilkSleek products wrinkle over time?

Silk is a natural fibre, so it will wrinkle slightly, which is normal over time. Our products can be ironed with a cool iron setting. You can also use a steam setting or use a damp cloth as a barrier between the iron and the silk. OurMulberry Silk eye mask can also be ironed while damp but avoid adding pressure otherwise the inner padding could change shape.

What is a Momme count?

Momme is a term used as a measurement of quality and weight within the silk industry. Like thread counts on Egyptian Cotton, a Momme count is a definition of silk weight and weave. Our products have a Momme of 22, which translates as a thread count of 600. We consider a 22 Momme silk fabric to be the perfect weight and weave for our products. It is both high quality and durable, whilst being light as air and a joy to touch.

But all silk feels the same, doesn’t it?

Silks come in many different weaves, weights and qualities from all around the world, including Japan, India, Italy and China. Mulberry silk, from which all our products are made, is considered to be the highest quality and is renowned for its standards of excellence. Our Mulberry silk is the crème de la crème with a grade of 6A (the highest possible). We wouldn’t use anything else!
